For those looking for a more familiar Filipino comfort food experience, Kusina San Diego offers lumpia, the Filipino version of spring rolls, served crispy and golden on the outside with a savory meat or vegetable filling on the inside. Pair that with a refreshing halo-halo, a popular Filipino dessert made with shaved ice, jellies, fruits, and sweet beans, and you have a well-rounded meal that showcases the best of Filipino flavors.

  • A place for a variety of Filipino food. They have a Sunday brunch buffet and a regular menu on the other hours. They say that their beef kare kare is their specialty if you like a peanut sauce based stew. It had a plentiful amount of veggies and beef. The lechon was a little dry for me but skin was nice and crunchy. If you get rice a small cup is enough for 1 person and if you get a large it's overfilled with rice definitely enough for two. The sisig nachos wasn't bad just know it might be a little spicy with the chopped jalapenos inside.

  • Typical selection for a Filipino breakfast; garlic fried rice, fried eggs, jeprox, dried salted fish, longanisa, tocino, lechon kawali, and Ube pancakes Pancit, vegetable kare-kare that you can top with lechon kawali, chicken katsu, filipino beef steak, fried eggplant, Missing diniguan ang lumping. Good for family or group. The value for its price is reasonable. I might go back, but not in a while.

  • My family and I had an amazing experience. Super nice staff. We came in a bit late lunch around 230 and they typically close at 3pm and reopen for dinner, they were kind enough to still serve us! We ordered the lechon kawali kare-kare, chicken adobo, oxtail-nilaga, cinegang pork, and krispy bulaklak. They even have a sushi bar and we had a roll. Everything was cooked fresh made to order. Impressive Filipino restaurant. Great establishment and even better staff. We’re making it a tradition to eat here every time we come to SD.

  • Edit: came back for sushi and it was soooo tasty! I was also excited to know that they have gluten free imitation crab! Most places don’t. I also ordered the pork soup again and it was amazing. This place is a hidden gem. Super tasty and chill! I have to eat gluten free and my options were sushi and the pork soup which was delicious! The pancit was tasty too, I’d definitely come back :)

  • We dined here for brunch and took family who hadn’t dined here before. While the dining room was clean, service was on point, food hot and delicious; for some reason, it seemed like the variety of dishes could have a few more different offerings. Their ube pancakes weren’t as hot as pancakes off the griddle. But I will mention some of the dishes definitely worth getting: lechon, arrozcaldo, talong (eggplant), fried egg & garlic rice, green beans, and beefsteak. Their brewed drip coffee was definitely good. All in all, it wasn’t bad at all. It’s just that other AYCE Asian/Chinese restaurants nearby, or even Kalaveras’ Mexican Restaurant in Chula Vista offer similar AYCE brunches similar in price, but offer 2-2 1/2 times the food variety. In other words, if you dined here for an encore shortly afterwards, you’d most likely find the same dishes and not much which you didn’t try on your last visit. If you like Filipino food, you’d most likely find Kusina’s very good. I just wish they had more hot dishes prepared…

  • Food was pretty solid. Ordered chicken inasal and pork adobo combo. We came here with half empty stomach so we didn't finish our food. Portions are pretty generous. Service was great and parking is free!
